Discuss your expectations, your requirements and any of your concerns
Our friendly practice provides a wide range of restorative and cosmetic treatments, but we also focus firmly on preventive care to help you and your family achieve lasting oral health. This means we encourage regular check-ups and hygiene appointments, as well as advising you how to take care of your teeth at home.
We have had a strong presence in the community since the practice was established way back in 1969. Paul Smith joined as an associate dentist in 1983 (when the practice was known as West Park Dental) and then became our Principal Dentist in 1990.
We treat children under the NHS but provide purely private dental care for adults with a choice of payment options, including ‘pay as you go’ and Denplan dental plans, which feature convenient monthly payments.
Get in TouchWhen you come and see us for the first time, please feel free to explore our fantastic facilities and relaxing surroundings. You can also get to know our friendly team who will be more than happy to answer any questions and make sure you feel right at home.
As Paul will want to get to know you (and your mouth), your initial consultation will be slightly longer than a normal check-up. During this extended appointment, he will:
Discuss your expectations, your requirements and any of your concerns
Find out about your past dental experiences
Undertake a full examination of your teeth and gums, including screening for oral cancer
Take dental x-rays, if necessary
Following this thorough examination, he will discuss:
Your short and long term care options
How you can pay for treatment and care

As well as your regular dental visit, hygiene appointments should also be an essential part of your dental care. Our Hygienists are qualified members of the dental team who focus on preventing and treating gum disease by promoting good oral hygiene.
Gum disease causes inflammation of the tissue that surrounds teeth and, if not treated, it can lead to recession of the gums. This can cause pockets to develop as the gum moves away from the tooth and can eventually lead to loosening of the teeth. The cleaner your teeth, the less likely you are to develop gum disease. Our hygienist will not only thoroughly clean your teeth but will also show you how to keep up the good work at home.
